QC fire kills one, destroys P800,000 in property
One person was killed while an estimated P800, 000 worth of property was destroyed in a fire that hit three houses in Quezon City Wednesday afternoon, a fire official said.
Fire Supt. Jesus Fernandez, Quezon City Fire Marshall, identified the victim as Jose Marciles, who died due to suffocation after being trapped inside the house.
Fernandez said that based on their initial investigation, the fire happened at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday and affected three houses located at Number 6 Irid St., Martin de Pores, Cubao Quezon City.
The said houses is reportedly owned by Purisima Merciles, the sister of the victim.
He said firefighters who rushed to the scene managed to put out the fire at 1:40 p.m.
Arson investigators said the fire, which reached the fourth alarm, originated at the kitchen area. It was learned that an open flame or burning firewood was the cause of the fire. (Francis T. Wakefield)
