Revilla eyes 2016 presidency
Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. revealed on Monday that he is studying the possibility of running as president in the 2016 elections.
“I am open. I think so, yes,’’ Revilla said in a press briefing at his office.
He also said that being implicated in the controversial P10 billion pork barrel scam would not affect his political ambition.
“No. Why [would I be affected]? I did not do it. That is why it would not affect me,” he said.
Thirty nine people, including Senators Revilla, Juan Pone Enrile and Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada, have been accused of plunder.
Revilla also said that he has not yet talked to former President Fidel V. Ramos, Lakas party president emeritus, about his political plans.
Revilla told reporters that many people have been urging him to run.
“As of now, I am studying it very carefully,’’ he said. (Mario Casayuran)
