Surigao City mulls P390.34M fish port
The government of Surigao City is mulling to construct a P390.34 million fish port.
The completed feasibility study of the Surigao City Fish Port showed that the project will boost the fishing industry, improve the quality of marine products, generate more employment for the local population and spur economic activity.
The Surigao City Fish Port will cater to the needs of fishermen and the fishing industry in Northeastern Mindanao.
The proposed fish port project at Barangay Canlanipa is within the fishing grounds of the municipal and commercial fishermen of Surigao City.
The proposed fish port has fish landing wharf of 140 lineal meters, 10m x 80m commercial fish landing pier, four-hectares port terminal, breakwater, bulkhead and revetment causeway.
The fish port project also includes functional facilities including fish market, gear/commercial shops, administration building, fish container storage facilities, public toilets and other miscellaneous amenities.
“The establishment of this fish port will provide a strong impetus for the growth of the fishery and agricultural sector in the city as well as the province and neighboring areas, and also establish a new growth center accessible to the main urban development area,” Mayor Ernesto T. Matugas said.
