The story of the rainbow

It is very timely now to refresh our minds about the story of the rainbow after some misfortunes and calamities recently hit our country one after the other.

After the floods, God made a covenant with Noah and his descendants. He said: “And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.  And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:  I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.  And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:   And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.  And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.” (Genesis 9:11-16, KJV)

This is the Biblical account of the rainbow – a sign of God’s faithfulness. We need to be reminded of the story of the rainbow every day of our lives.  A story of hope.  For many of us who lost family members, friends, and property during calamities/disasters – we are devastated emotionally.  But we must be patient.  And in God’s own time, in God’s own way, hope and help will come our way.  Let’s wait on the Lord.  He will renew our strength.  In the words of the Holy Bible, “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” (Psalm 37:7, KJV)

It’s now time to say goodbye to worry and say “hello to hope.”  Hope is simply holding on and praying with great faith in a great God.  In the Holy Bible we find the following: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6, KJV).  There will always be the rightful thought about the unknown.  Here are the comforting words in the Holy Bible: “I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4, KJV).  Our Lord is not just delivering us from some of our fears – but all of our fears.  Let’s continue having great faith in our Lord God.  Let’s continue to focus on the power of our Lord God who created us.  Let’s refresh our minds with the awesome power of our Lord God of all ages.  Let us realize that there is indeed tremendous energy generated in the powers that are created through the focusing principle.  Let’s continue praying because it is through prayer that our Lord God blesses us with tremendous power to hold on to tough times until the breakthrough comes.  Praying is talking to God during good times, during bad times – all the time.  In our own words.  Praising Him.  Thanking Him.  Seeking His grace, protection, and provision not only for oneself but for others, too.

Yes, it is now time to let go of our fear and affirm our faith in a great God.  It’s time to walk the walk of faith and replace worry with hope.  It’s time to lean back, pray, and let God take over.  It’s time to believe that our county will survive, that God is still with us, and that better days will come.  Let us find comfort in a verse in one of the best-loved Psalms in the Holy Bible (the Twenty-third Psalm) that says: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4, KJV)
