Two suspects in theft of P640,000 worth of rubber sandals nabbed
Two suspects accused of stealing some P640,000 worth of rubber sandals from a businessman in Binondo were arrested by police last Wednesday.
Police identified the suspects as Jerome de Mesa of Caloocan City and Jose Daplas of Tondo, Manila.
The two suspects were arrested following a complaint lodged by Teodoro Kalaw, businessman in Binondo, Manila.
Kalaw sought police assistance from the Follow-up Unit of the Manila Police District (MPD) led by Senior Inspector Marlon Mallorca.
Operatives of the unit conducted an operation which led to the arrest of De Mesa at his residence in Caloocan.
During interrogation, De Mesa pinpointed the whereabouts of Daplas.
Police operatives then proceeded to Daplas’ establishment at the KP Tower located at the corner of Juan Luna St. and C.M. Recto Avenue in Binondo, Manila.
Law enforcers were able to recover 19 boxes of the rubber sandals that the complainant said were stolen from him by the suspects.
The complainant told police that he originally had 150 boxes of the rubber sandals stored at the 4th floor of the King Plaza Condominium located at the corner of Juan Luna and P. Rada Sts., in Tondo, Manila.
A case of theft will be filed against the two suspects before the Prosecutor’s Office of Manila. (Rizal Obanil)
