Cebu IT Complex

Cebu City, Cebu — A mixed-use complex is set to be built at the 24-hectare Cebu IT Park. Cebu Holdings, Inc. (CHI), made the announcement saying that the mall will also host offices, hotel and a retail play area. “We are currently finalizing the master plan for the redevelopment of the two-hectare superbloc at the heart of the Cebu IT Park,” CHI President Francis O. Monera said. The Cebu IT Park is now the premier IT economic-zone destination in Cebu, that hosts the biggest offshore and business process outsourcing firms like Convergys, IBM, StreamGlobal, Aegis People Support, JP Morgan, Telstra – having about of 35,000 workers. Land Information Office Created

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte — A Land Information Office (LIO) is set to be established in the towns of Malitbog and Libagon towns, Leyte to facilitate the processing of land titling. This is after the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 8 (DENR-8) signed the Memorandum of Partnership Agreements (MOPAs). Regional Executive Director Leonardo R. Sibbaluca said the office will not only handle land title processing, but can also provide information and documents on lot data and maps – a move to bring government services closer to the people. Region 7 Jobs

CEBU CITY, Cebu — The Region 7 office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) opened 806 available positions for job applicants, in line with the launching of the National Community-Driven Development Program (NCDDP) this coming June. Available positions are 72 Area Coordinators, 93 Deputy-Area Coordinators, 93 Municipal Financial Analysts, and 548 Community Facilitators. Interviews will be on April 29. at the Conference Room, Governor’s Mansion, Tagbilaran City; and April 30 at Office of the Senior Citizens’ Affair in front Silliman University Medical Centre, Dumaguete City. Cop, Accomplice Nabbed For Drugs

A suspected pusher who is a police officer and his accomplice were arrested recently during a bus-bust operation by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Iloilo. The suspects were identified as Police Officer 1 Charlie Balsomo and Avelino Ane. Balsomo is an active Philippine National Police (PNP) Non-Commissioned Officer assigned at the Arevalo Police Station, Iloilo City. Eleven plastic sachets of shabu were confiscated from them. On the same day, operatives of PDEA Regional Office 10 arrested Ralph Martin “Dacoycoy” Jabiguero, who sold a sachet of shabu to a PDEA poseur-buyer in Centro, Iponan, Cagayan de Oro City. Army Relief Goods

CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar – The 8th Infantry Division of the Army in Eastern Visayas led the distribution of relief goods and hygiene kits and the free medical and dental services for the victims of typhoon Yolanda in Eastern Samar last Tuesday, based on a military report released today. Maj. Gen Jet Velarmino, commanding general, said around 878 victims received the goods courtesy of UNILEVER Philippines. These victims are from Brgy. Roxas, Giporlos; Brgy Sta Rosa, Balangiga and Brgy 10, Poblacion, Lawaan. The AFP Commissary and Exchange Service also handed out clothes and foods. Meanwhile, the medical team was led by Lt. Col. Reynaldo Cruz, while the dental team was led by Lt. Col.Luther Punzalan. (Restituto A. Cayubit)
