PAVIA, Iloilo (PIA) — Town mayor Michael B. Gorriceta is lauding the Association of Government Information Officers (AGIO)’s recent holding of a bloodletting activity at the Pavia Covered Gym. Some 40 blood donors from various national government agencies and Pavia town government offices offered blood but only 22 were qualified after check-up. The bloodletting activity was held in coordination with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-6, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-6, Iloilo Tourism Officers Association (ITOA), and the Pavia local government unit.
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — Policemen from the Roxas City Police Station were conferred the Medalya ng Papuri by the Western Visayas Police Regional Office. The commendation medal was given to PCInsp Rizalde Besana, SPO3 Avelino Villareal, SPO2 Ronald Dumala, PO3 Rodel Ibanez, PO2 Flores Segundo John Onio, PO2 Reynan Aguirre, PO2 Alnie De Leon, PO1 Mark Anthony Barrera, PInsp Karena Onio, SPO1 Cornelio Acielo, PO3 Antonio Buenvenida, PO3 Dan De Asis, PO2 Glynn Tuazon, PO2 Edilberto Berjamin and PO1 Ana Loren Silvestre for their arrest of a suspect in a robbery incident in Roxas City and recovery of assorted jewelries, cellular phone and cash money.
SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — The national government, through the Pantawid Pamilya program, supports 27,109 families in Antique province. Provincial coordinator Jeffrey Gabucay said when the program was first launched in five Antique municipalities, it only covered 7,687 families. Today, he said, “the program covers all 18 towns in Antique, with over 27,000 families identified as beneficiaries in 590 barangays and receiving regular monthly cash assistance for the health and education needs of their children 0-14 years old.” Last release of 4Ps funds in June to beneficiaries totaled P39.517 million, Gabucay said.
CEBU CITY, Sept. 30 (PNA) — The Cebu City government Monday celebrated World Rabies Day with such activities as free veterinary services like pet registration, adoption, anti-rabies, film-showing on “Prevention and Control of Rabies and Responsible Pet Ownership,” and orientation on “How to Prevent Dog Bite” at the Cebu City Hall. Some 12 rabies cases were reported in Cebu City last year, with one case each in Apas, Basak Pardo, Bulacao, Guadalupe, Hipodoromo, Mabolo, Pasil, Punta Princesa and Sudlon barangays and two cases in Brgy. Sambag.
ALBUERA, Leyte (PIA) — Dr. Carlos S. dela Cruz, DA-8’s Organic Agriculture Program Focal Person, representing Regional Executive Director Antonio G. Gerundio, has commended the Leyte Organic Fertilizer Producers Association for the production of the most important input in organic agriculture: organic fertilizer. The commendation was given during the recent Strategic Planning Workshop for the Development of the Organic Fertilizer Production Project (OFPP) and the Leyte Organic Fertilizer Producers Association (LeOFProA) at the Baybayon ni Agalon Resort, this town. Dela Cruz challenged the group to become a model for Eastern Visayas organic crop and input producers.
