Shopee Philippines released their official statement after the Blackpink meet-and-greet event held last June 6, 2019, that affected 119 fans.
“The revocation of the tickets of some BLACKPINK fans was the result of a system error and not due to a change in promotional mechanics”
Shopee stated that they are already working closely with the authorities and affected users to appropriately address all issues and concerns.
The web retail firm added that “The competition ran from May 11 to June 1, as always intended, and the final winners of the contest were determined based on this timeframe. An internal system error led to some initial inaccuracies in the automatically generated winner list, and 119 incorrectly issued tickets had to be revoked as a result. “
Shopee clarified that the number of tickets for the fans was not reallocated for celebrities and influencers.
“We understand that fans are frustrated and upset at this, particularly in light of other issues concerning the Shopee X BLACKPINK meet-and-greet,” it said.
Shopee said that they already offered each of the 119 affected fans a full refund of the amount spent during the campaign including travel costs if they traveled from outside of Metro Manila.
