PNP creates 'study team' for policy-making amid implementation of ECQ, GCQ

By Martin Sadongdong The Philippine National Police (PNP) has formed a top-level "study group" that will craft rules and regulations for the police's implementation of extended enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and general community quarantine (GCQ). Archie Gamboa Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa, PNP Chief, said the study group will strategize police operations and administration in response to the extension of ECQ in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) and selected provinces and cities until May 15. The team will also be responsible for mapping out PNP courses of action for all other areas under the GCE, he explained. "In the succeeding days onward the extension of ECQ until May 15th, we can expect better and seamless cohesion among operations of PNP frontline and back-end support units toward the accomplishment of the mission given by the national government," Gamboa said. The PNP chief emphasized that they couldn't afford to fail since the lives of the Filipinos are at stake in the battle against coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The study team will be led by Police Lieutenant General Cesar Hawthorne Binag, the Chief of the Directorial Staff.
